About

Robert Ruiz is a filmmaker, with a focus on Cinematography and editing, based out of Chicago, Illinois.

In high school, he started to take film on in a different light. He realized that this source of entertainment could also be art.  His first major influence to become a filmmaker was "I'm Not There," the portrait of Bob Dylan directed by Todd Haynes.  "I'm Not There" broke away from the biopic traditions and handled the life of Bob Dylan the only way one can, through multiple perspectives.

After experiencing this film, he started to make more serious films with the tools around him and found that telling stories through a visual medium was something that he wanted to do for the rest of his life.  With this in mind, he attended Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy with a focus in Cinematography.

During his time at Tribeca Flashpoint, he has networked with many new people and has worked on a variety of different projects including live events, documentaries, and corporate videos. After his time at Tribeca Flashpoint, Robert continues to distribute high caliber work as a media professional.
